At the August 19, 2009 Board Meeting, the Fontana Unified School District
announced Eric Groeber as the new Principal of Citrus Continuation High School.
Mr. Groeber has served as Citrus’s Assistant Principal for the past four
years, alongside previous principal, Dr. Ken Decroo, who retired at the end of
the 2008-09 school year. Before coming to Fontana, he worked at the Upland
Unified School District for 18 years: 9 years at Upland Junior High teaching
life science and 9 years at Hillside Continuation High School teaching science
and computers.
Although he was born on the east coast, Mr. Groeber’s family moved to the
Inland Empire when he was very young. In fact, before teaching in Upland, he
attended school there - from kindergarten through graduation. He continued his
education at Cal Poly Pomona, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Biology,
as well as his Teaching Credential. From there, Mr. Groeber attended Azusa
Pacific, where he earned two Masters Degrees: one in Administration and one in
Instructional Technology.
"Having been part of the Citrus High School family for the last four years, I
couldn't be more pleased or excited to be able to now serve as their principal,"
said Mr. Groeber. "It's an honor to work with such a professional staff
who are committed to helping our students succeed. I look forward to
continuing to advance our school's mission of assisting our students in earning
a high school diploma. Citrus' future looks bright as we look forward to
breaking ground at our new campus and moving to our new school. Citrus
High is a great school and I can't think of any other place I would want to
work."
“Mr. Groeber’s firsthand experience with the Citrus High culture is just one
of the many assets he brings to his new position as Principal,” said Oscar
Duenas, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services. “He will be an
excellent leader for the school.”
