District Seeks Members for Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee

In June 2006, the voters of Fontana Unified School District approved Measure C, a $275 million bond measure.  Because Measure C was an election under Proposition 39, the District is obligated to establish a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee.

FUSD is currently searching for people to serve on our Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee.  This committee informs the public concerning the District's expenditures of Measure C bond proceeds; reviews expenditure reports produced by the District to ensure that bond proceeds were expended only for the purposes set forth in the Measure C and that no bond proceeds were used for any teacher or administrative salaries or other operating expenses, and presents to the Board of Education, in a public session, an annual written report regarding the Committee's activities and a statement indicating whether the District is in compliance with the requirements of the State of California rules and regulations regarding Measure C.

This committee, at a minimum, must be comprised of voters of the District as follows:

  • Parent or guardian of a child enrolled in a District school (1 member)
  • Parent or guardian of a child enrolled in a District school and active in a parent-teacher organization, such as the P.T.A. or a school site council (1 member)
  • Active in a business organization representing the business community located in the District (1 member)
  • Active in a senior citizens’ organization in the District (1 member)
  • Active in a bona-fide taxpayers association within the District (1 member)
  • Member of the District's community at-large (2 members)

Because all positions on the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee are or will be open on July 1, 2010, the Board of Education needs to seek interested members of the community to appoint to serve on the committee.  Individuals interested in serving on FUSD's Citizen's Bond Oversight Committee are requested to complete an application and return it to Cali Olsen-Binks, Superintendent.
